PMN Membership

Join or renew your Planting Material Network (PMN) membership

There are almost 2000 members of PMN across Solomon Islands. Kastom Gaden Association (KGA) works with the members of PMN.

Anyone can join the PMN either as:

  • an individual
  • a group
  • or organisation.

Membership costs is $15 and is life long.  If you don’t have any cash you can pay by donating some of your own seeds and planting materials.

After becoming a member you must pay an annual subscription for any year where you wish to be involved with services delivered by KGA. Subscription cost is $15 or contribution of some of your seeds or planting material to share with other farmers. The basic entitlement of a subscriber is:

  • free seeds from the PMN seed bank

  • training, information and contacts.

The Solomon Islands PMN

  • encourages saving and sharing seeds with farmers
  • produces seed for distribution among members.

The Solomon Islands PMN is for:

  • farmers
  • non-government organisations
  • government extension workers
  • schools
  • other people who want to look after the crop biodiversity of the Solomon Islands.

If you want seeds of food plants you should join the Solomon Islands Planting Material Network.

Save your seeds and share

Save some of your seed for replanting and to share with other farmers:

  • collect the seeds from the plant after it has flowered and grown
  • put the seeds in a dry place and leave them to dry out
  • you can plant the dried seeds in your garden
  • some of the seeds  you have saved and dried with other farmers
    in your village.
