Masimasi

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Ngali nut - baked, amount depends on your preference
  • 2 bundles Slippery cabbage
  • Salt - to taste
  • ¼ cup Water

Equipment

  • steamed banana leaves or aluminium foil
  • 1 bowl/basin
  • 1 tablespoon
  • 2 knives - big & small
  • oven & firewood
  • banana leaves for the oven

Procedure
 

  1. Prepare oven/motu and light the fire.
  2. Mash the ngali nut with a stick in a wooden bowl and add water until its fluffy.
  3. Add salt to taste.
  4. Lay banana leaves on the table.
  5. Prepare slippery cabbage and spread it on the banana leaves.
  6. Using a tablespoon to sprinkle the mashed ngali nut on the slippery cabbage and stir until the nut is well spread over the slippery cabbage leaves.
  7. Wrap up the banana leaves or aluminium foil and bake in the oven or motu for about 2 hours.
  8. Serve with cooked or baked potato or cassava.
