On 28th – 31st May 2010, the Program Support Officer for Small Livestock Mr Michael Qwanafia had visited Gwanafiu area in Malaita province, to identify active lead farmers in piggery and poultry. The survey is purposely meant to identify potential farmers who would be involved in local feed trials to prove the results of a local feed research project, funded by ACIAR. Only few selected farmers will be involved in the feed trial for a specific period of time. It is envisaged that if the feed trial proves positive results, then other farmers would be given the information in due course.
He has identified about 10 active lead farmers including one from Kwalo village, in central Malaita , Malaita province.
